Church today and yesterday

Look at this photo, taken some days ago in 2014, is a picture of the road to the church, Östuna kyrka, outside Uppsala.

And here is a photo from over 100 years ago. It is some differences but the church looks more or less the same.

The trees are a lot bigger and you see the church in the old photo. The old dirt road is gone in the new photo as you can see, thanks for that!

Remembering the dead

Yesterday was the day here in Sweden when we remembered our dead at All Saints Day.

For me it was my mother Gunvor, my father Bertil and my uncle Åke and all the others through history.

They all rest here in at this cemetery at Östuna kyrka, and my parents in this chapel here.

Here in a photo of the church, Östuna from the 1400, but like it it today it is from 1700.

And here is a photo from the inside of the church. The crucifix is from 1200.

Remembering the dead

Yesterday it was the day to remember the dead, All Saints' day, here in Sweden. Everybody that has a dead family member, or friend, lights a candle at their graves.

I of course I went to the church cemetary and the family crypt where my parents are buried, my mother Gunvor the artist, and my father Bertil. And then the grave of my uncle Åke, the famous historian.

Here you can see the lights outside the family crypt, build 1770.

The church I am talking about is Östuna kyrka, close to Uppsala, it was built in the late 1400.
