Chinese temple in Kota Kinabalu

This photos is from Malaysia, from the island of Borneo and the city of Kota Kinabalu and the biggest chinese temple there.

It was really beautiful and serene to be there, I still remember the smell on incense and the sound of the bells ringing.

Wonderful flowers too. As you can see here.

Flowers from Borneo

And here you have some more lovely flowers, these one I found in Malaysia, on the green island of Borneo.

Here above you have an exotic flower called Heleconia Pendula. It looks just as it was made of wood or something, almost too beautiful to be true.

This one is more common, I had one in my home once, it is a Bougainvillea. So lovely.

Reports from a wedding

Some years ago I was covering stories from weddings around the world - for a monthly Swedish bridal magazine called, Bröllopsguiden. I also wrote about honeymoons abroad.

This time I was in Malaysia and there in Borneo for a story about these that had a wedding abroad and the ones on a sun drenched honeymoon.

On one hotel I found a couple that just had got married and now was going to have a dinner then going to party the night away together with friends and family. These two photos are from the same couple.

And then you have these photos from another hotel, don't remember where, in a room prepared for a newlywed couple. Here is the bed...

...and here is the bathtub, in the same room. Filled with flowers, cute!

More fishes...

Some days ago I gave you some photos of a fishmarket in Borneo, Kota Kinabalu. Here is some more photos from the same place.

But this time, it is dried fish, that they use a lot in Malaysian cooking. And I can safely say I do not like to eat that at all. Small ones above.

Here is some of the bigger ones.

Here is the market again, fish and sea food everywhere.

Read an old entry about fish in Borneo here:

These are red, have no clue what tipe of fish it is, maybe you know?

It was mostly women that sold the fish here, in Kota Kinabalu.

The people that lives here are also called "sea gypsies", just as the where named in Thailand.

And here you have one more photo of the village in Borneo, we came there with this small boats, or canoes that you can see in the picture.

New flavors

One really good thing about traveling abroad is taste new flavors, new food that you have not tested yet at home.
Sometimes it is going to be amazingly good, other times not so much.

The women here in the picture is from a small foodmarket outside Kota Kinabalu in Borneo, Malaysia. She sold small pies and homebaked bread.

Here is a pic from abowe, where the food market sold there home made stuff, you can see the rain forest in the background.

The other photo is from one of my hotel's in Borneo, Malaysia. Is just the spice section - where you could add some hot spices or sauce to your plate.
