Here above is one pic of the pool at night, so lovely. This is the third time I stayed here.

And here is one pic from the day, love to swim in the cool pool early in the morning, just before breakfast.

I put my old photo of some Thai flowers thru Photoshop, and it came out like this. Nice.

Just can not get enough of this hotel, this was the second time around, and it will be more. Here is one photo of the stylish lobby.

All the rooms - and the lobby - has a wounderful view over Kamala bay and the sandy beach.

At hotel Cape Sienna

This was the second time at posh hotel Cape Sienna in Kamala Beach in Phuket, Thailand. And it will not be the last.

It is not only a very stylish and beautiful hotel, it's also a very charming and relaxing place.

These two photos is from the pool, one at a sunna day another one at a more gray and rainy day. But it does not really matter. Love to stay there anyhow.

More hotel pic's from Malta

I can't not say how much I enjoyed my trip to Malta. It was my first and I really want to go back again. It was hot and sunny, the sea was lovely and the hotel was perfect, on the right in the pic.

Stayed at Seabank hotel, an all inclusive deal and it was a lot to eat, and really good stuff too. The design in the whole hotel was fresh and modern.

This is a photo of the restaurant where we ate, nice and airy. And good food.

Nice place to stay in Rome

This in not what I normally do here at my site, but I love to travel and I was in Rome some month ago. I was at a trip in the middle of the country, as I have told you about before. I was looking at a house to buy but turned out to be a ruin. Here you see Monumento Vittorio Emanuele.

When I was in Italy, in Rome, I stayed at this place, Hotel Capitolium - Town House Suite in Via Montebello 104. Just close to the station, Stazione Termini. I paid just 55 euro a night for a very nice double room.

Comfy bed, a nice shower room and some sweets and slippers on your pillow.

Greetings from a palace

Just returned home from Italy. Had a lovely vacay there, and one night I stayed in this lovely hotel, Palazzo Guiderocchi in Ascoli Piceno in Le Marche.

This is one of the halls in the old palace that now is transformed in to a posh hotel.

The ceiling was high everywhere in the hotel. And I must say it was a really, really pleasant stay!

Afrodite's favorite place

Last year I was in Afrodite's favorite place, Cyprus. It is a popular tourist destination, it is an island in the Mediterranean. I Stayed in a nice place, a hotel called Hotel Sandy Beach, just outside Larnaca.

They loved the white theme, and the lobby was in white with some exepticons, blue cushions.

This is the decoration just at the entrance, it changed colors in the evening, just now it was pink.

Then the hotel hade Orchidaceae's - white orchid's - everywhere. But then you touched the flower it was made of paper. But the rest was the real deal, leaf and all the dirt! Smart way too fool you. And too keep the fresh look, without problems.

My hotel in The Gambia

This is where I stayed in The Gambia, Hotel Sheraton in Serrekunda, just at the beach.  Her I took the photo from the beach.

And here I took it from the hotel, at the beach. At high tide.

It is inspired by local traditions and has a lot of african art and crafts as a decor, and the rooms are all placed in smaller houses on one or three floors.

Reports from a wedding

Some years ago I was covering stories from weddings around the world - for a monthly Swedish bridal magazine called, Bröllopsguiden. I also wrote about honeymoons abroad.

This time I was in Malaysia and there in Borneo for a story about these that had a wedding abroad and the ones on a sun drenched honeymoon.

On one hotel I found a couple that just had got married and now was going to have a dinner then going to party the night away together with friends and family. These two photos are from the same couple.

And then you have these photos from another hotel, don't remember where, in a room prepared for a newlywed couple. Here is the bed...

...and here is the bathtub, in the same room. Filled with flowers, cute!

On top of the pyramid

A long time ago, in the late 70's, I was a teenager and started to see the world, so one day I took a trip to Cairo, Egypt with a girlfriend.
Remember that I stayed in a hotel with bugs that "ate" my legs. It was once a vey elegant hotel, you know the type of place that could have been in an Agatha Christie novel. But when I was there with a friend it had seen it's best days.

And in Cairo we went to see the pyramids in Giza and Saqqara. And when we went to the three famous one's in Gize, my 3 friends wanted to mount the pyramid. Crazy idea I know, but I just did not want to say at the bottom of the big tomb, all alone for more than 3 hours that it took to climb up and down. Remember this was in the 70's, tourists where not common at all in the streets in Cairo, or even at the pyramids.
So we hires a guide, it was REALLY expensive, but neccesary, to climb up. It toook 1 h up and even more to go down, and I suffer from vertigo.

Sri Lanka - elephants and a nice cup of tea

Last year - in december - I went to Sri Lanka, my first visit to that country. It was warm, sunny and inspirational. I met a lot of wounderful people everywhere and the landscape was so fascinating. From beaches to montains.

   

The food was great and the sea was warm, even if the waves where too high for me.

   There where not many people on the beach outside my hotel in Wadduwa. But every morning the fisherman came with their boats, and there where some dog there too. But mostly just us from the hotel. Like on this photo.

One day I went for a trip to the mountains, the area around Kandy. Beautiful landscape but it is not easy to travel on the narrow roads with sometimes very heavy traffic. It all takes so much longe times than expected.

But it is so worth it all...

Sri Lanka still has a big brittish influence, like cricket and tea. I also wisited a tea plantation. Nice to be up in the mountains, cooler and very beauftiful landscape vise.

Here you can see how they pick the leaves that later will become tea, nice cups of hot tea.

And I was also very lucky to have picked the right hotel. I stayed at the lovely Blue Water Hotel in Wadduwa. A modern hotel designed by Geoffrey Bawa, a local very famous architect.

The hotel had beach access and some very nice swimmingpools.

And the food at the hotel was just amazing. And since I had an "all inclusive" deal I ate so much I gained some weight. But just the desserts where worth it all. I still dream about their chocolate mousse...
