During my recent trip to Indonesia I had the fortune to stay in hotels with outside bathrooms.
This first pic is from Gilli Travangang, where I stayed at Villa Ombak. I had my own garden whre the wc and shower was.
Here is one more pic from the lovely shower, with just salt water.
And this is another photo from the same hotel Villa Ombak. Where I washed my face. You can see the eco-watercloset in the behind.
Here is one more outside shower, this time from a hotel room in Bali.
Here is the beds at Villa Ombak. Just to give you an idea...
I live in Sweden and write for a living, as a journalist and writer. In this blog I talk about my mother Gunvor's work as an artist, my travel around the world and a lot more.

And as always there is Asian beauty like this rice fields, from Bali. A lot of green.
But it also had a lot of magic moments, like this dragon in a lake...

A walk on the beach again?
During the winter here in Sweden many of us are dreaming of a sunny day at the beach. Like this here, when I was in Thailand last year.
But soon again I will be in the sun, in Asia. Dreaming of it every day now. The pictures here in from Kamala beach in Phuket.
An as you can see here in my photos it is not really crowded. Just a few persons on the beach.
Here is a pic from a restaurant I dined at in the evening. Just at the beach.

Flowers from Borneo
And here you have some more lovely flowers, these one I found in Malaysia, on the green island of Borneo.
Here above you have an exotic flower called Heleconia Pendula. It looks just as it was made of wood or something, almost too beautiful to be true.
This one is more common, I had one in my home once, it is a Bougainvillea. So lovely.

I always wanted to try a swim up bar, the feeling that you could sit in the water and drinking something really cool in the hot sun.
Like this beautiful hotel i Phuket Thailand with a lovely pool. And yes, it is really cool to swim up ti a bar, maybe not so fun to swim back, if you had to many drinks...

Thai food - on a beach
When in Thailand I often eat on the beach, it is almost always very good, a nice view and do not cost a fortune. The spicy food does well with a cold beer too, maybe a Singha.
In the back ground here you can see another nice thing you alwas find on Thai beaches, som really good Thai massage.

Foot massage in a Thai spa
One thing I really love to do when in Thailand or elswhere in Asia for that matter is thai massage, and foot massage.
Thai foot massage is a massage of the lower leg and feet. It involves hands on stretching and massage to open energies, stimulate reflex points that correspond to internal organs iof the body. For your health and well beeing.
It is called Thai foot massage but it's origins from China. I just LOVE IT!!

A stroll in Phuket Town
When you go to Phuket, the holiday destination in Thailand, many forget that it also has an interesting city, also named Phuket town.
This is Old Phuket town, a really charmig place with small streats and interesting shops. Some of the houses are built in a charming style, calles Sino-Portoguese, or Sino-Colonial.
Here is one of the most famous shops, a chinese man and his farmacy - a must to visit.

Shopping in Turkey
I now bring you some other shopping idea's, this time from Turkey. Some years ago I did make a trip to Side, a tipical tourist town today, but with ancient roman ruins.
This is a shop where you can buy sweets and nuts, and a lot of other treats to eat.
And this is another shop with spices, like nutmeg - musgat - that you can see on the front to the right.

Reports from a wedding
Some years ago I was covering stories from weddings around the world - for a monthly Swedish bridal magazine called, Bröllopsguiden. I also wrote about honeymoons abroad.
This time I was in Malaysia and there in Borneo for a story about these that had a wedding abroad and the ones on a sun drenched honeymoon.
On one hotel I found a couple that just had got married and now was going to have a dinner then going to party the night away together with friends and family. These two photos are from the same couple.
And then you have these photos from another hotel, don't remember where, in a room prepared for a newlywed couple. Here is the bed...
...and here is the bathtub, in the same room. Filled with flowers, cute!

More fishes...
Some days ago I gave you some photos of a fishmarket in Borneo, Kota Kinabalu. Here is some more photos from the same place.
But this time, it is dried fish, that they use a lot in Malaysian cooking. And I can safely say I do not like to eat that at all. Small ones above.

The people that lives here are also called "sea gypsies", just as the where named in Thailand.
And here you have one more photo of the village in Borneo, we came there with this small boats, or canoes that you can see in the picture.

Houses on water in Thailand
I have been to two different places, one in Thailand and one in Malaysia, Borneo, where people live on water.
Like this one here, a small willage that visited some time ago in Thailand, not far away fom my then holiday location in Khao Lak. A place that now is completely rebuilt by the way, my hotel was hit hard by the tsunami, just 7 month after my stay there.
Here is one more picture of that village, it's really a tourist attraction these days, but people actually lives there, on water.
Tomorrow I will post pictures of some houses on water in Malaysia, in Borneo.
The James Bond Island in the Phang Na Bay.
