Goa in India resembled Portugal, it also was a former colony. A lot of churches in the region. But there was more...
My hotel Heritage Williage club was full of hand painted tiles, on the floor and on the walls. Like this ones, from the reception area.
I live in Sweden and write for a living, as a journalist and writer. In this blog I talk about my mother Gunvor's work as an artist, my travel around the world and a lot more.

More tiles from Goa
Love, love tiles, and in Goa there was a lot of them. This is just frpm my hotel Hertiage Village in south Goa in India.
First we have the stairs up to my room on the first floor. Small fishes in blue.
Then we have this single one, handpainted on the ground floor, just outside the lobby, in the patio.

Memories of Italy in the bathroom
This is a wall in my bathroom, all white tiles exept this one space - or two actually but I did only take one photo - where I have some nice memories of Italy.
This is some pieces of ceramic tiles that I have found on my walks on the beaches of southern Italy in beautiful The Amalfi coast.
I collected them during a holiday in Positano some years ago, and thought that could come handy one day.
And here they are now, in my bathroom so I can remember Italy every day.

Wine - on the wall
I love Wine, can't say that I drink it much anymore. But I eat a lot of grapes. And I really, really love this ceramic "tiles" made by my mother Gunvor.
One is colored one is just plain white.
Which one is your favorite?

My mosaic table
Last summer I wanted to make a table to put outdoor in my garden. So I opted for a mosaic table made from old tiles that I cut in pieces.
But first I draw the patterns I wanted - a turquoise sea, a sun and a blue sky - on the table.
Then piece by piece I put them there and glued them on the table with cement.
Now it was time for the finishing touch, and after that I was ready to put it all out in the sun in my garden. Or at least I thought so.
And it turned out well, at first. At least it looked good. Then I placed a sink in the table, so I could be able to wash hands outside.
But then it started to rain, not uncommon here in Sweden. And then it all fell apart, and had to throw it all away....
But it was beautiful as long it lasted.
If you want to see what I got instead - look for the blog post here on My blog from Ostuna that's about home made pizzas.

And here in another mosaic table - from Thailand:
