I want one of these

This is an old photo from a trip I did to Mexico and Riviera Maya some years ago.

Found these handpainted sink's and I wish I bought one, even if it probably would have been difficult to tahe them home on a plane.

New Year soon

It is now time to say goodbye to 2013 and welcome 2014, a new year that I hope will bring you all fantastic things.

A scene from the country

My mother Gunvor made a lot of "jewelry". This one is a little brooch in ceramic that she hand painted.

The motive is from the countryside where she lived here in Sweden, with the church and all.

Necklace in ceramic

My mother made this kind of necklaces in ceramic in the late 70:s, these are in ceramic but hand painted in acryilc colors.

The pendant is really original, like to use it when dressing a bit hippy-ish.

And again, this is just one more piece of art by my mother Gunvor, a bowl in ceramic, this day with some sweets in it.

On the outside you can se the pattern she had done with the help of an old crocheted table cloth.

A home for your candles

This is a lovely building made by my mother in ceramic and glass, it is made like a candle holder.

You just lift it up and plce one of them on the plate. And then you have a very nice piece of art - by my late mother Gunvor.

Icy outside

It is very icy outside now here in Sweden. At least where I stay, close to the airport of Stockholm. So it is very difficult to walk.

But it is getting better, I hope it will rain away soon. But I give you something much nicer to look at, my mothers apples.

I have the apples in ceramic outside my house when it's summer. They are so lovely.

Mother with children

My mother Gunvor is no longer with us here on earth, but her work lives on. Forever. Love you mom!!

Sculpture in the window

The sculpture you see here is of course made by my late mother Gunvor. Now it is watching out from the window - normally during summer it's moved outside. Love to have sculptures in my garden.

But this year it was so rainy and cold that se, the woman sculptured in ceramic, that she remained inside. Looking out to the garden. :)

My mother as a child

My mother Gunvor made this lovely sculpture - as usual in ceramic - of her and her grandparents. She had a photo of the scene and later made this piece.

It is her in the middle, as you could guess, between her grandmother and grandfather. It speaks volume of the situation, and I really love it. Have it in my livingroom.

Mother's work again

Another religious motive from my late mother Gunvor, and her ceramic collection.

This one is a sculpture of a nun lifting up a child somewhere in the world, my mother was herself very active in the local Red Cross.

My favorite of sculptures

This is my absolute favorite of sculptures that my mother Gunvor made thru the years. It is a torso that looks like a piece of wood with its bark, with all its worm traces and all.

One of the pics it's from the front the other one is from the back of the female torso med in ceramic. If you have read this blog before you may have come across the torso before. But I love it soooo much!

My mother was very inspired from all the things around us, especially from the nature.

Berså by Stig Lindberg

This is just ine can of a set of a dinner set in ceramic made by designer Stig Lindberg, in the series called Berså by Gustavsberg.

We are now selling it since it is really not our style, but it has some charm I must admit. It is regardes as an antique piece now days, but I used it as a teenager I remember when my mother bought it.

Raku bowls

As I have told you many times before, my mother Gunvor loved to work with different techniques, as she was a  potter from the beginning, then she started with all kinds of art.

These are ceramic bowls made in the Raku style, a Japanese style, hand shaped from low firing temperatures, then you remove the piece from the owen still hot and then cooled of in a bin with combustible material.

Love in sculptures

Love in art, by my mother Gunvor again. This ones are sculptures she made some years ago, all about love - and kissing!

These sculptures in ceramic, as you can see.

In some way the couples are integrated, like they are one.

Shapes of nature

My mother really loved and was inspired by nature, in all the diffrent formes.  Like these seed pods of different kinds. She always kept the real ones in vases, all year round.

But of course she made these two objects - seed pods - in ceramic, like beautiful sculpures.

Flowers - in ceramic

My mothers work again,these are some flowers  - in ceramic. They are just so beautiful!

And this is her ceramic cutting board. Also that made of ceramic. I use it for garlic and other "smelly" stuff. And it reminds me of her every time.

Ceramic in black

This ceramic bowls, from my mother Gunvor, is almost black in the colour. And that is because she did not burn the ceramic in a kiln but in a hole in the earth, like they did long time ago, in the stone age.

Then she polished the surface with a smoth stone, so it looked like it was painted.

Two ladies

Lazy and relaxed, that how I could desicribe this lady made of clay, by my mother of course. The model is sitting in a chair and maybe thinking about life.

And here you have another woman, also sitting in a chair but she is more active in her pose, the hands are behind her head.

A cheese sandwich & candle holders

These are two more candle holders made by my mother, in ceramic with a pattern of leafs she found in the garden.

Hungry? Maybe a cheese sandwich? But not this one, made by my mother in ceramic.
