Is this fun or what!?
Have this colorful coffee table in my livingroom now, just between my sofas, do you like it as much as I do?
It is really fun and colorful. Made in wood, and with a glass top, by French artist Frederic Iriarte, now living here in Sweden. A bit of Pop Art, maybe?
Read more about him here››
I live in Sweden and write for a living, as a journalist and writer. In this blog I talk about my mother Gunvor's work as an artist, my travel around the world and a lot more.

My latest DIY projects
Just now I have my kitchen upside down, they are working on it in all the ways, I will have a new one in a few weeks.
Soooo looking forward to that day, have been a bit tiring to be without a stowe.
So noo cooking for almost 3 month...
And because of that I have started a few new DIY projects, like in these photos here.
Mostly paint job so far, half white as you can see with the two above and all white here.

Mosaic table and a chair
My most read blog entry here is the one about my attempt to make an outside table with home made mosaic on top, a sea, a sun and a sky. But that did end with a disaster, the table was destroyed after a heavy rain unfortunately.
But here is one mosaic table in Thailand, and one lovely chair, in iron. Found them on a small street in Kamala Beach in Phuket, with an elephant and all. Really nice, and they where home made too.

Another mosaic table
This is another mosaic table I made myself, not the whole table of course, but the top. I used glass mosaic, already cut in pieces and all of them in blue and green color's.
So this time the pattern was easier, just random, no landscape. An this wooden table I have in my livingroom, not outside, so it will last longer than the other one...

A table
This is a "still life" from my livingroom, as usual with a statue made by my mother Gunvor. And a wonderful book about a castle here in Sweden - written by my late uncle Åke.
And then some old candlesticks, an ashtray - even if no one smokes here - and then some old memories in silver and a crocodile in plate from Kuala Lumpur.

My mosaic table
Last summer I wanted to make a table to put outdoor in my garden. So I opted for a mosaic table made from old tiles that I cut in pieces.
But first I draw the patterns I wanted - a turquoise sea, a sun and a blue sky - on the table.
Then piece by piece I put them there and glued them on the table with cement.
Now it was time for the finishing touch, and after that I was ready to put it all out in the sun in my garden. Or at least I thought so.
And it turned out well, at first. At least it looked good. Then I placed a sink in the table, so I could be able to wash hands outside.
But then it started to rain, not uncommon here in Sweden. And then it all fell apart, and had to throw it all away....
But it was beautiful as long it lasted.
If you want to see what I got instead - look for the blog post here on My blog from Ostuna that's about home made pizzas.
