Helping hands

Have to take this photo and blog about it a day like this, tomorrow Sunday july 22,  2012 it is a year since the massacre in Oslo and Utøya. And then I have to read about a mad man killing people in a movie threatre in USA.

This is a piece of art from my mother Gunvor, two hands on a cross, helping hands. We need each other, always.

My mother - in ceramic

This is my mother Gunvor and her sister Marie Louise in ceramic, as hildren. My mother made this one as a memory of her childhood in Finland.

So this statue made after a photo taken in Helsinki where she and her sister grew up with her father.
Her mother died after an illness at a rather young age, so they where looked after by the lovely Elsa.

When you feel small

My mother did Gunvor create at lot of different art works, like this piece in white. Made in ceramic and with a frame of wood.

I see it like this, how you can feel some times in life, small and not very strong. But it could have been something completely different. How do you interpret it?

This and that

This is some more of my mother Gunvors work, maybe not her absolute best, but these are really different and funny. Love the cheese sandwich!

And the things you see here are all made in ceramic.

Praying

My mother Gunvor did -as I told you before - some religious work during her active years. Now she is gone but I always will remember her - like this - thru her work.

This is a nun praying, a really wounderful piece, carved in wood that she found here in the countryside where she used to live.

And this is another carved piece of wood, I see it like the face of Christ. This one is not completed, it had to be refined, but I like it as it is really.

Strange forms

Here you have some pieces of art that I do not really can explain, my mother loed to work with forms from the nature.

This is made of clay, and is very soft in it's forms, I am not shure but I think that is a woman with a child. But it could be something completely different,

And here is another one, a scuplture of people climbing, its it on the social ladder, or not? Love it anyhow, you can see whatever you like in in them,

More love in art

Here is another two statues made by my mother Gunvor, it is made in ceramic and it is all about love, you can see that they are quite different, but the theme is the same. One couple in love, that just can't keep their hands of each other.

And then it is the other form of love, a mother and her baby, the one to the right.

And this is wood

My mother usually used clay to work with, and made it look like wood. This time I can show you one piece that really is made from wood. The one to the right in this picture.

And the other one, to the left is - as you can understand now - in ceramics as usual. But they are both inspired by nature. We all come from the same place, the same earth.

Male and female - in art

Here we have som more art from Gunvor, first out is this one that is a motherly statue made of ceramics. A mother with children.

Then you have this female torso in ceramics - but it looks like wood. Like wood worms have made their marks in. You seen it before her on my blog.
My mother loved the nature and everything that she could find out there, then she made some art of it, mostly in ceramics. But not always.

Then we have this torso here, not as naturalistic as the other one, but just as strong.

And then - this is a male torso.

Clay - like wood

I am back again after Christmas and all its celebrations. And back with more of my mother Gunvor's art. When my mother made this sculptures se transformed the clay - so it turns into wood. Or at least looks like wood, taken directly from our forest, as pieces of branches.

I really love them, hope you will like them too. She so admired nature and what artpieces we can find there, then she created her own art - in ceramic.

Another couple

And here is yet another couple made of ceramics, not kissing this time. Just very much in love.

Love - in art

These two couples is both young and really in love. One pair is kissing so much - and that's because they have been apart for a long time.

As you can se - if you have been following me for a while - that this is more art works from my mother Gunvor.

Two ceramic couples in jeans, and in love. So very much that they become one...

Masks in Sri Lanka

Here we have som more ideas of shopping abroad - if you go to Sri Lanka you can enjoy these wooden masks - hand made of course.

I did not by one of these but I must say they where beautifully made, all by hand and then carefully painted in vivid colors.

Wine - on the wall

I love Wine, can't say that I drink it much anymore. But I eat a lot of grapes. And I really, really love this ceramic "tiles" made by my mother Gunvor.

One is colored one is just plain white.

To a dear friend of mine

Yesterday I found out that a dear friend of mine lost her wounderful husband. RIP Pierre!
I know he loved my mum's work, so this is for you Rona and for Pierre - a really fantastic person that will be missed but live on in my memories forever.

Some religious art from Gunvor

You seem to like the stuff my mother has made thru the years, she was a really amazing artist. Here is som more of her stuff, some religious work.

Here you have a statue of Bridget of Sweden, heliga Birgitta as we call her here. She was a saint and founder of the Bridgettines nuns and monks.

My mother made som nativity scenes too, here is one that I love very much, the women on the scene.

And here is a nun, made of ceramics. My mother's work is now in some churches and other public places here in the country side, utside Uppsala. 

And here is even more lovely ladies, sitting on a bench chatting.

As you could se before I did put up some of my mother Gunvor's art work here on my blog. As I also promisied, here is some more of her stuff.

This "Aquarium" above is made of wool - yarn - and home made ceramic details.

I am sorry for the flash light in the middle, but it is a watercolour of a landscape here in the country.

This is a typical piece of art from my mother, she loved to do things in ceramics that looked like they where from things in the nature around us. Like this huge seed pod.
