Shopping in Bulgaria

What can you buy when in Bulgaria, or in the turist town of Sunny Beach. Some of it I can show you here, the rest you have to go there to experience...

You can find these hand painted plates in ceramic, some rather nice, others not really my style. But good craftmanship anyhow.

Then yoy have this plastic bags for little girls, a lot of different ones but almost all in pink.

You can also find really good priced bras and other underwear, ok quality too.

But I did not like the fashion style in Sunny Beach or like this shop in Nessebar. They looked like some leftovers in my eyes...

You could also find a lot of handicraft like these laces.

And of course there was a lot of turist shops everywhere.

And for the kids you could goo for these pastic shoes....

The first photo is from a 7 Eleven store in Thailand, in Kamala Beach in the tourist island of Phuket.

There you could found a hot sandwich and a cold drink for a little less than 1 Euro. And a lot of other stuff that you need on a daily basis.

And here you have a shopping street in India, in Goa, a completely diffrent place, but you still had a lot of options to shop.

Yet another pair of sandals

And this is another pair of flat sandals - got them recently and changed the color of them, I love them. Hope you like them too.

I am quite fond of the fake diamonds, even if they can look rather tacky. But I think the sandals are sleek...

African shopping and sunny beaches

Some more african shopping. Found out that you could buy a lot of stuff in carved wood, but also these baskets made of grass.

They come in every color but the shapes where almost always the same.

And here is another photo from Africa, this is from a sunny beach in The Gambia. The women here where also selling some stuff that they carried on their heads.

Going for ice cream in Thailand

In the US you have a lot them, fast food restaurants of the chain Dairy Queen. But when I was in Thailand they only went for ice cream and sweeter delas, not really hamburgers and that kind of stuff.

Here is one shop into the big shopping mall Jungceylon, in Patong on the island of Phuket in southern Thailand.

And another photo of the mall, it is so big that you just don't have time to se all shops in one week.

And some shopping

You can't go to Thailand without do some serious shopping. There is a lot of "turisty" stuff that I personally don't like but there is also a lof good items that you could get for a good prize, if you haggle a bit first.

Here is some bikinis - often very small in sizes, but ok in quality, at least for the prize.

Ande here is something else that you can find everywhere, sunglasses of all shapes and forms.

More Stockholm

Here is two more pics from Stockholm, the city where I live and work. The first picture is of Sergels Torg, the most central public square in town.

You can see a glass obelisk, made by Edvin Öhrström, under it there is a water fountain in the summer.

And here is a photo of Drottninggatan in central Stockholm, is one of the main shopping streets.

Shopping street in Stockholm

Not that glamorous shopping here you may think, but is really ok. This is one of the streets from Hötorget to Sergels torg in Stockholm, Sweden. Here you can mostly find shops selling clothes, like H&M, sport- and shoe shops.

This is also a place with a lot of tourists from all over the world. But this day it look only gloomy and rainy, but it is better during the summer.
Hötorget is what you see in the background, it is there, in Konserthuset, where they do give away the Nobel prizes.

Russian shopping

No not really, I did not even think of buying anything from this stand in St Petersburg, Russia. It is not really my cup of tea.

But it is a beautiful view anyhow of the magnificent city of St Petersburg.

Another view of the city.

And here you have it again, the priceless couple that just got married - found them outside a church in the city.

Shopping in Tunisia

I know, this is just some of the things that you can buy while in Tunisia. But one thing you really find everywhere is carpets, the carpet vendors will not give up before they sold you a rug.

And then you can find tiles and other things in handpainted ceramics of all kind, like this "turisty" things.

Even if they are made just for turists, the mosaic work is sometimes really good.

And here is another carpet, up close.

Shopping in Turkey

I now bring you some other shopping idea's, this time from Turkey. Some years ago I did make a trip to Side, a tipical tourist town today, but with ancient roman ruins.

This is a shop where you can buy sweets and nuts, and a lot of other treats to eat.

And this is another shop with spices, like nutmeg - musgat - that you can see on the front to the right.

More african shopping

In The Gambia I also found that they where really good at batik, a manual wax-resist dyeing technique that you can see here.

The man is "painting" on the hot wax to the fabric.

Here you have some typical african scenes, really vibrant and artistic in my opinion.

This is some of the most beautiful and simple patterns and colours - that I found on this compound outside Serrekunda.
