Outside bathroom in Asia

During my recent trip to Indonesia I had the fortune to stay in hotels with outside bathrooms.

This first pic is from Gilli Travangang, where I stayed at Villa Ombak. I had my own garden whre the wc and shower was.

The Gilli islands

During my recent trip to Indonesia I also visited the Gilli islands, not just Bali. I stayed at the biggest of the three Gilli islands, just outside Bali and Lombok, Gilli Travangang.

It was some years ago just a place for backpacker tourist, young people from all over the world.

Today it is so much more, they have made it, for better and worse, to a place for all kind of turists.

I stayed at a four star hotel with an outside bathroom, Villa Ombak. As you can see in the pic here, but the shower had just salt water.

But one thing has not changed, there is no cars on the islands. Just horses, even for transports.

Asian breakfast

Having a nice breakast is always a pleasure in Asia, and this time in Bali was no exception.

Fresh fruit, home made cakes a glass of juice and hot coffee with milk.

I can also give you a photo of Balinese fastfood, from a stall outside a market.

Indonesia - temples and rice fields

Just came back from a trip to Indonesia, to Bali and Gilli Travangang. A lovely trip with temples, sea, sun and rice fields.

And as always there is Asian beauty like this rice fields, from Bali. A lot of green.

But it also had a lot of magic moments, like this dragon in a lake...

Church today and yesterday

Look at this photo, taken some days ago in 2014, is a picture of the road to the church, Östuna kyrka, outside Uppsala.

And here is a photo from over 100 years ago. It is some differences but the church looks more or less the same.

The trees are a lot bigger and you see the church in the old photo. The old dirt road is gone in the new photo as you can see, thanks for that!

Painting by Edvard Friström

Some years ago I bought this painting in a shop, without knowing anything about the artist. Now I know he is known as Clas Edvard Friström, or Edward Fristrom, born in Sweden 1864, but he moved abroad and became a famous painter in New Zealand.

He then moved again with his family, wife and their children, to the USA, where he died 1950, in California. My painting in watercolor is probably made in Sweden, it is a view of Kalmar Castle.

A walk on the beach again?

During the winter here in Sweden many of us are dreaming of a sunny day at the beach. Like this here, when I was in Thailand last year.

But soon again I will be in the sun, in Asia. Dreaming of it every day now. The pictures here in from Kamala beach in Phuket.

An as you can see here in my photos it is not really crowded. Just a few persons on the beach.
